The Polyverse Poetry Festival is taking place this weekend at Loughborough University: readings, workshops, roundtable sessions involving, I think, over 30 poets – including me. (I am giving a short reading tomorrow afternoon; I'll also be around for many of the events.) The highlight of the programme is a reading by the new Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy, at 8 o'clock tomorrow evening (Saturday). It is, I believe, still possible to obtain tickets: info here. It is £20 for the whole weekend, £15 for students/ concessions, or £10 for Carol Ann Duffy (£7 for students/concessions). For those who don't know where it is, Loughborough is roughly in the centre of the triangle made by Nottingham, Derby and Leicester. Indeed, since Nottingham and Leicester both claim to be the centre of England, Loughborough, which is midway between the two, probably is the real centre of England.

Although I still have more thoughts on the Google Book Settlement, most of them will have to wait till next week. Here, though, are a couple of links:

Yesterday the Institute for Information Law and Policy at New York Law School put online The Public Index, a website entirely dedicated to the controversy over the Settlement: the documents in the case, opinion essays, links.

And Publishers Weekly has commissioned a survey into public opinion on the Book Settlement: if you have an opinion on it, why not share it?
